Hey there! If you’ve ever wondered who’s behind the words you read, you’ve clicked on the right blog post. I’m thrilled to tell you more about me. So, grab a cozy seat and let’s dive in!

A Lifelong Love

I've always loved books... My mom has mentioned many times over the years that the only time I would sit still as a toddler was when she was reading to me, so she would sit and read to me for hours. By the time I learned how to read, I was more than happy to read nonstop... and I read anything I could get my hands on: picture books, chapter books, mysteries, fairy tales, poetry, even instruction manuals and doctor's visit paperwork!

I also grew up going to the library weekly for story time and to check out books, but I counted down the years until I turned six, and I could get my very own library card. I don't think I've ever felt so grown up as I did when they handed me that piece of plastic that said I could check out books whenever I wanted. And every time we went to the library, especially the first time each summer, it was like Christmas... and I quickly learned that I could only check out 50 books at a time.

My Interests

Even though I'll basically read anything, ever since reading The Boxcar Children, I have loved mysteries. From The Boxcar Children to Nancy Drew, to discovering Dee Henderson, Agatha Christie, and Arthur Conan Doyle in high school to Terri Blackstock and psychological thrillers in college. To this day, when I get stuck in a reading rut, all it usually takes to get me out is a fast-paced mystery or thriller.

When I was a preteen, my dad started reading The Chronicles of Narnia to me, and once we finished that, it was on to The Hobbit. (Fun Fact: It took me an entire week of pool time at Disney World to read the 22-page introduction to Lord of the Rings, but once I got past that, I read Felllowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and Return of the King in 3 days.) So, I have (maybe unrealistically) high standards for the fantasy genre. That being said, I recently read the first book in The Dreamkeeper Saga for a requested review, and it is easily a new favorite series even as an adult.

I couldn't wrap up this section without mentioning how much I love historical fiction, especially historical romance. I think it started somewhere around the time I started reading the Royal Diaries series, but a good romance set in the Regency Era of England or the Wild West of America is one of my favorite things to read on a cozy, rainy day at home.
